The games courses focus on designing games and developing gameplay. Students develop a range of skills including, level design, 2D/3D graphic asset production, gameplay programming, paper and electronic prototyping, visual design and plot and character development. Computer Games Development allows students to further develop software design and programming skills. Computer Games Design (Story Development) allows students to develop creative writing skills with a focus on how these relate game design.
The work displayed on these pages represents a combination of individual and interdisciplinary group projects. All work has been conceptualised, planned, designed and developed completely by our students, including the generation of all assets, and programming of all gameplay.
Some of the work has been developed for professional clients, some represents work undertaken to support exploration of theoretical games design and development research. Some work has been produced in collaboration with animation, illustration and music students.
Our graduates have gone to take up a range of positions with professional games development companies including: Bethesda, Electronic Arts, Gamesys, Lionhead, Microsoft, Ninja Theory, Playdead, Rock Star, RockSteady, Sega, Sony Entertainment, TT Games, Warchest.
